In the splendid setting of the pool at the Hotel Antares – Olimpo in Letojanni, professionals, suppliers, friends, and collaborators gathered for the annual Foundation Gala. Many attendees participated in the charity dinner.

During the evening, the Foundation's managers and collaborators presented new projects and initiatives undertaken in 2023. Dr. Michele Mattietto thanked everyone for attending the 18th gala and conveyed greetings from Mrs. Helena, the Foundation's president, who was unable to attend due to prior commitments.

Dr. Andrea Fenaroli reported on the Foundation's collaboration with the "Jardin de la Esperanza" Association in Mérida, Venezuela. The Foundation continues its work supporting children who typically find little support from other institutions, helping reduce social risk levels for girls living in extreme poverty in the city of Mérida.

Michela Fedrizzi spoke about the DanCER project and hip-hop courses in middle and high schools in Bologna, specifically at Salvo D'Acquisto and Bottego schools in the Navile district. This year, enrollments have doubled: last year in Bologna and Ravenna, nearly a hundred young people from disadvantaged neighborhoods were involved in this project, which aims to promote youth inclusion through hip-hop. Another successful initiative in recent years is "Caffè di Più," a Foundation project designed to provide concrete employment and training opportunities in the bar and restaurant sector for people with disabilities. Located in Piazza Zanelli in Salò (BS), the space has been renovated and converted into a modern bar for this purpose.

Antonio Riccobene, the Foundation's representative for Sicily, reported on the collaboration between the Foundation, the Misericordia volunteer association of Letojanni, and the San Vincenzo hospital with the team of Professor Sasha Agati, head of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery at "Bambino Gesù." As in previous years, many families were hosted in the six apartments that the Foundation has an agreement with the department headed by Professor Agati. During his presentation, Antonio Riccobene shared the story of Hector and the Marcano family, "The Christmas Miracle." Hector, a three-month-old baby from Venezuela, arrived in Taormina through a chain of solidarity to undergo a delicate heart surgery. The family, after numerous appeals, including those made on local Venezuelan networks, highlighted Hector's critical condition. Thanks to Ignazio Pollini of the "El Jardin de la Esperanza" Association based in Mérida, Venezuela, this wonderful chain of solidarity was set in motion. The Italian Embassy in Venezuela issued visas to the family, the Chincherini Foundation covered the insurance, air tickets, accommodation in Letojanni, and all necessary expenses from the operation to Hector's recovery, from December 21, 2023, to February 18, 2024, the day of their departure. The Foundation's representative for Sicily announced that more requests are coming from Venezuela, and they are ready to extend a helping hand to those in need.

See you next year,
Antonio Riccobene
